I see this picture, taken by the great EA Wymuller, and I think, "damn, I miss that hat!". Life's like that. So I thought I'd get a bit of it down on this website. I'll let the work speak for itself- except where I'll speak for it. Apologies for mixing art, life, and work but that's where I live. It's not for everyone. I'm never sure its for me. But I'm quite sure that if you accept creative life as a measure of cosmic grace you will cut with the grain. So, go ahead, arrest me...

While living in Argentina the renown Saluzzi family allowed me into their lives to document their haunting sunswept music. Around that time my friends Jim Brown, Mary Ingraham and their son Gabe visited. I shot the the haircut scene (starring Gabe) in the fabulous Epocha barber shop. After we finished the haircut a group of old folks poured into the room and, each taking the mic for a round, sang off key tangos with brio throughout that Friday evening. I’ve never showed this entire film anywhere publicly. Maybe I’ll roll it out in sections…

From a series of one minute films. Mostly nature films. Mostly NW nature films. This one, called “Water/Color”, was shot in Austin.
